What are your hobbies? Golf started out as a family activity when my daughters were young and has transitioned into a couples activity now that we are empty nesters. I prefer a scramble format to make up for my lack of consistency. What advice do you have for prospective employees of ELO? My advice is to work hard and embrace the different opportunities that present themselves. What have you gained from working at ELO? The accounting profession in general is ever-changing and requires a commitment to on-going education in order to stay current with regulatory changes. What are three words to describe ELO? As an auditor, each day presents different challenges, situations and perspectives that foster my curiosity and allow me to learn new things along the way. My role allows me to teach the future generation of auditors in addition to affording me the opportunity to add value, understanding, and information to the clients that I serve. What are your hobbies? Although I enjoy sports, hunting/shooting and golf, helping on the family farm (or other farms) brings me the most joy and satisfaction. What advice do you have for prospective employees of ELO? If you have some experience and know you like accounting, but aren’t necessarily enjoying what you are doing at the time (whether at ELO, or a private company), talk to a mentor, HR, or partner; there are plenty of other opportunities within our firm or another industry that may suit you. If you are younger and still not sure what you want to do, apply for an internship, get some experience, etc (try different industries & public accounting vs private) – you likely won’t know if its “for” you until you have tried it.
