Q&A WITH THE TEAM
What do you do and how do you make an impact for others?
Accounting principles may make sense to me but they may not make sense to each client that I serve. As an auditor, each day presents different challenges, situations and perspectives that foster my curiosity and allow me to learn new things along the way.
My role allows me to teach the future generation of auditors in addition to affording me the opportunity to add value, understanding, and information to the clients that I serve.
What are your hobbies?
Although I enjoy sports, hunting/shooting and golf, helping on the family farm (or other farms) brings me the most joy and satisfaction.
What advice do you have for prospective employees of ELO?
If you have some experience and know you like accounting, but aren’t necessarily enjoying what you are doing at the time (whether at ELO, or a private company), talk to a mentor, HR, or partner; there are plenty of other opportunities within our firm or another industry that may suit you.
If you are younger and still not sure what you want to do, apply for an internship, get some experience, etc (try different industries & public accounting vs private) – you likely won’t know if its “for” you until you have tried it.
What have you gained from working at ELO?
I have gained Relationships and alternate viewpoints here at ELO.
What are three words to describe ELO?
Three words to describe ELO is professional, knowledgeable, passionate.
What is your favorite sport and/or favorite team to watch?
I like the MN Twins and New England Patriots.
What's on your bucket list?
I've always wanted to learn to fly a plane.
What places have you lived?
Rural Volga, SD; Mitchell, SD; Sioux Falls, SD; Aurora, SD.
What is one place in the world you would love to visit?
I would like to visit Alaska. If we are talking international, Italy - maybe Rome or Venice.
What's the one thing in life you could not live without?
I could not live without my son, Briggs, family and friends, and Diet Mountain Dew.
