Q&A WITH THE TEAM
What do you do and how do you make an impact for others?
As the CTO, my role is to ensure that data and systems are both secure and effective so that ELO’s accountants and advisors can continue to provide our clients with world-class service and consulting.
What are your hobbies?
My wife and I have 6 children, so much of my time is spent investing in our family. When time allows I enjoy playing piano, reading about economics and technology, juggling, and going for walks with friends and family. I also have aspirations to be a knife maker.
What advice do you have for prospective employees of ELO?
Be curious, humble, and ready to learn. The people I’ve met at ELO are wonderful, kind, and capable. You will do well by asking good questions, having an attitude of accomplishment and teamwork, and building trust with everyone here.
What have you gained from working at ELO?
Working at ELO has given me the chance to do meaningful work in a future-oriented organization. I’m excited to help ELO build secure and effective IT systems to ensure we can continue serving our clients for the upcoming decades.
What are three words to describe ELO?
Welcoming. Kind. Confident.
What is your favorite sport and/or favorite team to watch?
I confess I’m not very interested in sports. My bloodline is from Michigan and loves playing hockey, so familial honor requires that the Detroit Red Wings be my favorite team, but to be completely honest, I haven’t watched them in over a decade.
What's on your bucket list?
Start flying again, learn jazz piano so I can play with an ensemble, see a solar eclipse, juggle 5 clubs, live long enough to see my grandchildren raising their kids to follow Jesus.
What places have you lived?
Dubuque, IA > La Crosse, WI > Sioux Falls, SD.
What is one place in the world you would love to visit?
Scotland would be my first preference. But anywhere in the world that has deep history would be fantastic. I love architecture and ruminating on the passage of time, so historic locations with stately old buildings are a strong draw for me, regardless of location.
What's the one thing in life you could not live without?
Jesus, my wife and kids, and then perhaps the ability to think, move, and hear.
